Kim's journey

Kim was diagnosed last Thursday, September 16, 2010 with ovarian cancer. As Kim's Family, Friends, Neighbors and Fans - we have started this blog to help share information, updates, support, and love with each other during her next few months of surgery, treatment and healing. We will try to update it whenever we receive information. Please feel free to leave a comment expressing your support, love, and encouragement anytime - as that is how we will all grow and strengthen each other - especially Kim and her family. We love you Kim, and our faith, prayers, and total support and dedication are with you as you embark on this "Journey"!

Conference Saturday

Kim was up and walking the hall with Vern this morning! You know Kim, when given a task she's going to achieve it. Gaining strength, an appetite, and control of pain are the three things Kim is focusing on to be able to come home. Yesterday Kim experienced a small setback, but after having the fluid drained from her upper torso, she's bounced back and is looking forward to enjoying Conference today with Vern, Kali, and her mother, Fern. Last night she was also able to see Hunter and Braedon for a bit. Vern brought in a laptop and Kim read the blog entries and was strengthened through your love and support as well. Kim is still not ready for visitors but sends her love and appreciation for your thoughts and prayers.

  4. Hey Kim! I am glad to hear you are resting and surrounded by family as you work towards being able to come home. Knowing you, you are anxious to be up and at'em - doing all that can be done to progress towards healing and going home. I thought I would share this cute story. Jessica has been resistant to read Harry Potter due to the movies being a bit scary for her. (she loves fantasy and humor) She tells kids she thinks they are boring. She came home the other day and said..."I think I'll try reading Harry Potter - Braedon says they are really good...once you get past the first 200 pages" I see that Jessica holds Braedon in high esteem....oh no....I see my parental magical power sliding away! At least I am glad that she is influenced by the likes of Braedon! Take care! Love, Melissa

  5. Sunday am....I know you are watching the very same prophet I'm watching. I know you are feeling the same Spirit of God that I'm feeling. I know you are hearing the very same talk on Faith in God as I am. And, I know you believe and trust God as I do. But, most importantly, I know that God loves you and your family as He loves all of us.

  6. Kim: Sweet Rosemary Smith has tried a couple of times to post a comment on your blog - but she has been unable to do so. She would like you to know this "I am thinking about you and I am glad you are doing good. I hope you will stay strong. I love you."

  7. Kim, I picked up the Ogden Valley News at Lee's last night and read the letter to the editor about YOU. If anyone can fight cancer it is you. You are the most driven, dedicated friend I have. I know with all of the prayers that are being offered in your behalf-miracles will happen. You are in my prayers. I love you my friend, my sister-forever.~Kelly Hewlett

  8. Dear Kim, we were glad to hear that you were up and around!!!!The first time out of bed is a very painful step, I remember, but I know that it does help to make you feel somewhat better and that you can get stronger. Each day I am sure challenges will appear, but I know that you are a very courgeous person. We love you and can't wait to see you when we visit Huntsville. Our prayers and thoughts are with you and your family. Love, Melanie and Rick Jensen

  9. Kim,I was walking on a pathway this morning and the clouds darkened and it began to rain. I thought, "Shoot, this is going to get me all muddy." And it did, but then the sun came out and shown on the beautiful fall leaves and I thought of you... After the rain, the sun always shines.

  12. Dearest Kim,
I don't really have anything great to say here, but i wanted you to know i am thinking of you and your lovely family. There is so much pain and sadness in this world. and i am grieving for you. it is a necesaary step i believe, in healing. So go ahead and grieve and get through it. i have no idea if what i am saying is comforting at all but i wish to send some kind of comfort to you, if i only knew how. What helped me in some of my darkest times, was realizing how beautiful the world is. That helped me know that God really does love us. Sometimes it is hard to see that beauty, but just like the rainbow hiding under a cloud it is there...I love you guys and wish you the best. And i might add, that people are so kind and sent me so many wonderful notes and really i think that helped me put one foot in front of the other and try to smile at the same time. May God bless.
    With much love and concern

  13. Kim,
I'm sorry to hear of your trials.
I wanted to let you know that you have been such a strong example to me for as long as I've known you. I learned from you as a Young Woman, and when I went into Relief Society my testimony grew every time you would teach a lesson. You have such a strong and awesome spirit. Thank you. I really look up to you.
We love you and are praying for you!
